Bahr El Jebel Safaris is the only licensed safari operator in South Sudan. We started operations in 2009. We have a reservation office in Mexico, however the majority of the operation is conducted out of our office in Juba, South Sudan. There are no safari lodges, tented camps in the Parks, in all of South Sudan. As a result we operate mobile tented camps with tents, beds, full kitchen with chef, tables, chairs, dinning area, latrins, bathing showers, generators. We use converted 4x4 Unimogs for transportation, due to the lack of road system in south sudan. We are often navigating across the parks with GPS.
Unimog 4x4 we use in our safaris, due to the lack of roads in south sudan.
Our crew sets up individual large tents for each client, that are made in South Africa. Each tent is 3x3 meters (9 feet 9 inches x 9 feet 9 inches) on the ground and an interior height of 2.2 meters (7 feet, 2 inches). There is a cot with mattress, sheets, pillow, rechargeable lantern, inside each tent. The tent acts as a mosquito barrier if the screen doors are kept closed.
Portable ice makers run by a generator and fed by purified water create ice to cool drinks.
The chef will created a varity of foods in camp, such as different types of bread made in the above dutch oven. Fish from the Nile, chicken from the new South Sudan chicken farms, fresh fruits and vegetables will be plentiful.
